UPDATE ON CRAFT ROOM RENOVATION

Happy Australia Day everyone.

Today was all about getting the overhead cupboards up.

It will be easy he says, just have to put the strip up and hang the cupboards off the strip he says.  Won't take us any time at all he says.

And I believed him.  Famous last words.

First of all we discovered that we had bought the wrong size screws, so it was back to the hardware to get the right size.

Back home and 2 hours later the first hanging strip has been put up and had the first two cupboards hung.   Awesome, but alas discovered  they weren't as high as we thought, so strip taken down and try to raise it.  Silly brick wall and roof not even so made everything very difficult.  End up deciding the cupboards are perfectly fine where they are, giving up and re-hanging in the original place.

All good, hang two cupboards and all looking great.

On to hanging the next strip for the next cupboards.  Hmmm, why is it not lining up with the first lot.  After much fiddling and having to realign the first strip it was all good.

So finally, all systems go and the balance of the hanging rail is hung.  They certainly made very tough bricks in the 70s.  Took forever and a couple of drill bits to finish.

Great, think we are on the home stretch.   All cupboards now going up easily, except what is this at the end.  Why is this cupboard sitting on the bench top.  Well that would be because we are something like 5 mm short and now we have to do some fiddling to get this cupboard in its right place.  All too hard for now.

So after something like 6 hours this is as far as we have gotten.  Starting to look great, but still so much more to do.

I have spent most of the day helping with the hanging of the cupboards and in between put together all the cupboard doors with their hinges.  Just need some finished cupboards to hand them on.

And that was how we spent our Australia Day.

OPEN HOUSE/NEW CATALOGUE LAUNCH

Sharing some photos from my Open House/
New Catalogue Launch which I held on the
weekend.

Thank you to everyone who came along
and made it such an awesome day and so much fun.

With the new Craft Room in the process of
being built I didn't get as many samples created
as I would have liked, but was very happy with
what I was able to do.

BALLOON CELEBRATION

Today's card is another case from the
current Occasions Catalogue using the
Balloon Celebration Bundle.

I can see this set is going to be a well
loved set.

I have used slightly different colours and it
seems that Watermelon Wonder and Hello
Honey with a touch of Pool Party
 co-ordinate very well together.

ANOTHER BOTANICAL BLOOMS CARD

My second card using the Botanical Blooms Stamp Set.

Again I have only used the framelit dies to create the flowers and the sentiment is again from the FREE Sale-a-Bration Stamp Set Sky is the Limit stamped in Black Memento Ink.

This card has been created in the very simple colours of black and white and is basically a one layer card.  I used the Softly Falling Embossing Folder to create some texture in the background.

BOTANICAL BLOOMS

While I have been very busy trying to get my craft room built and ready for the Open House/Catalogue launch this weekend I have also found some time to have fun playing with some of the new stamp sets I just received so that I could make samples for the weekend.

I couldn't wait to use the Botanical Blooms Stamp Set and co-ordinating Botanical Builder Framelits Dies.

In actual fact, this card only uses the Framelits Dies.  I think I was even very clever and created the black decorative piece by die cutting the middles of the flowers in a pattern from the black card stock and then using it on my card which looks very effective.

The sentiment is from the FREE Sale-a-Bration Stamp Set Sky Is The Limit and I have used the  Decorative Label Punch to punch it out.  I am always using this punch, it is just so versatile.

NUMBER OF YEARS

This card I based on one of the cards
shown in the Occasions Catalogue
using the Number of Years Stamp Set and
co-ordinating Large Numbers Framelit Dies.

Just omitted a few bits and pieces that
I didn't have in my stash.  I still loved the result.

CRAFT ROOM UPDATE

Day 2 of building lots of cupboards
with lots of drawers.

Put together so far, 5 cupboards with drawers
and 2 cupboards with shelves.

Annabell was my little helper for the
day, mostly causing more chaos than
anything.

Pictures of my progress.

My chief drawer tester checking the materials
and instructions and then testing the
finished product of course.

My room so far.  Hmmm, nothing like
a scrap room yet, but we are getting there.

CRAFT ROOM REFURBISHMENT

I am so excited about my Craft Room refurbishment.

What started as a trip to Ikea to get
some wardrobes for our bedrooms
(which we did get) and then
turned into a shopping expedition for more
storage for the craft room.

Fell in love with one of their beautiful
kitchens and the result is going to be
an awesome new craft room.

So we went from just going up to get some of these.

To falling in love with this.

Hubby saying as this is your business
you should have a better craft room to work
in and for running classes in.
(I know, I was flabbergasted and it
took me one second to say yes please.

And so we came home with these.

Which are turning into these.

So far, 3 base cupboards built with 4 more
base cupboards to go and then a heap of
overhead cupboards.  Also a big table
which will cater for at least 8 class
attendees.

Oh, and this is now what the rest of my
house looks like with all my
Stampin'Up! products and other
craft goodies all over the place.

Will be back to show you more as we progress.
